Privacy policy

The short version

• You can read every guide without giving us any information. There are no accounts or sign-ups.
• usaBob does not use ads, affiliate links, advertising trackers, or tracking cookies.
• To count visits, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites.
• If you use our contact form, your message goes to our inbox and is used only to reply to you.
• The savings calculator and the copy and print buttons run only in your browser. What you type is not sent anywhere.
• We will never sell your personal information.

Web hosting

usaBob is hosted on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical information from each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, and may keep it in logs for security and performance. usaBob does not use this information to identify you or build a profile of you. Visitor counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and how fast pages load. Cloudflare says it does not use cookies or other browser storage (such as localStorage) to collect these numbers, does not “fingerprint” visitors, and does not track individual people across the websites it serves. We see only totals, such as page views, top pages, referring sites, and countries. We don’t use these numbers to identify you, and we don’t share them with advertisers.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we collect what you type: your name, email address, the topic you pick, and your message. We also record the page you sent it from, the time, and the country Cloudflare reports for your connection. Your message is emailed to our inbox. We use it only to read and reply to your message. We don’t add you to mailing lists, and we don’t sell or share your message with advertisers.

To block spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is sending the message. Turnstile processes limited technical information from your browser for this check. Cloudflare says Turnstile does not harvest data for ad retargeting. See the Turnstile privacy addendum. To limit abuse, our form service also briefly counts how many messages come from each internet (IP) address.

Please don’t send Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, or medical details. We keep messages only as long as we need them to reply and keep basic records. To ask us to delete a message you sent, use the contact form and tell us the email address you used.

Links to other websites

Our guides link to government agencies and other official sites. When you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Children

This site is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13.

Ads and affiliate links (future)

usaBob may later show clearly labeled ads or use affiliate links. None are on the site today. Before any are added, this policy will be updated to explain what information is collected, who collects it, and what choices you have. We will not share what you type into our contact form with advertisers.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
